Julie graduated from The Ohio State University School of Dance with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Modern Dance, emphasizing Choreography and Performance. The Ohio State University School of Dance has a national reputation for producing cutting-edge choreographers. In fact, Ohio State is considered to have the best dance department in the country. She has been a competitive gymnast since the age of five with the Tuscarawas Gymnastics team and qualified for the National Finals. She has been dancing all her life. Her first experience as a professional dancer started at Trumpet in the Land after graduating from New Philadelphia High School. Other experiences include the OSU Dance Force Team, AmeriCheer and an instructor for the Dublin Dance Center. Julie has also taught a dance program for the Columbus School for Girls. Other experiences include: working as an actress, including movies and commercials in New York City and Los Angeles. She has choreographed and coached for both the Dover Dance Team and the New Philadelphia Q.T. Squad, as well as choreographing the Miss Clayland Pageant in 1998. The BackStage Studio has been in business for eleven years and has an average of four National Dance Scholarship winners per year. Julie is also very proud to have two of her students continue their education at the next level; Jennifer Klopfer, graduate of The Ohio State University School of Dance and Jenni Rumer, who is a senior at the University of Akron School of Dance. Julie is married to Michael DeBois and has two children, Jack and Josie. She is extremely lucky to teach dance everyday to all the wonderful students at the BackStage Studio. |
